There are a lot of reading options out there, and we all have precious limited time that we want to use in the best possible way. Rather than guess if Hleo would be a good read for you, check out the reviews below.
Wow. Just Wow. Rebecca’s incredibly imaginative and action-packed tale kept me hanging on every single word.
Intriguing and full of suspense. Any story that keeps me turning pages is a good read to me. Forces of good and evil going strong. I like to read struggles of conquering evil.
This book was filled with mystery, romance and lots of fantasy fun! Hleo was fast paced and so good I just couldn’t put it down!
Hleo is a great action packed novel and covers many aspects of its genre! The story is also continuously moving along, making it both intriguing and fast paced.
I lost myself in this story, forgetting the outside world as I read. I couldn’t stop reading, as I just had to know how everything turned out! I enjoyed the characters and their development throughout the story. I kept waiting for something to happen between Hannah and Ethan, and I like that there wasn’t any resolution with their feelings until the end – it kept me “turning the pages.” Their world is interesting with the Hleo and Protecteds. Really enjoyed the suspenseful ending. Good work!
This is my kind of a story: young characters, suspense, romance and unusual circumstances. The book is interesting from the start, and the author develops the story in a skillful way, keeping the reader’s interest high. I would like to read the sequel. Highly recommend to anyone who likes a good young adult fantasy and romance!
This book literally took the breath out of me. 😉 I loved the characters, the descriptions, and just every single thing about it. It’s very rare on this site to find something for me that is so easy to read. And I wouldn’t change one thing about it. I can’t wait to see what happens next! Please keep writing about the Hleo!
I really cared about the character, the description, and the twist and turns really kept my interest. It seem1s to me a sequel is in the works and I would like to read more. I definitely think others should read this story!
I was honestly extremely shocked by how phenomenal of a read Hleo was. The first chapter had me hooked into this alternate reality so deeply I could hardly put it down until I had finished, causing me to read during my work shift (potentially the only problematic part of this book). I found myself lost in the world and words of this author in a way I have difficulty doing with most novels; an incredible feat for the debut book of an author! I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the writings of authors like Maggie Stiefvater, Cassandra Clare or really anyone who enjoys a good young adult fantasy and I cannot wait to have more instalments in this series!
I have two words for you. Two words. Um. Yes. Where do I even start with this book? I finished it and immediately furiously scrolled through my blog, amazon, and goodreads accounts on it to find out when the next book is being published and CANNOT FIND IT. This is unnacceptable readerlings. I’m addicted. Hooked. Completely crazy and insane and – o-m-g I’m going to go nuts waiting on this next book. I loved this book and its characters and story world so much. Thank you again Mrs. Weller for letting me read it for free in exchange for a review! Please please please go and read it and buy copies to support this awesome author here. Such a good book. Go and read it. I beg you.
Romantic fantasy is not my usual genre, but this story seems to be an exceptional example. The characters were compelling, the writing clean, and plot compelling: I enjoyed the story immensely. I had a few minor gripes about word choice and the somewhat slow start (I was more moved by the action than the details of high school girl’s life), but overall this novel was excellent.
This is my first time reading this kind of genre but I was amazed how you make an interesting story. I love the flow of your story and I’m thrilled to know more about it. You are an amazing author and a skillful one. It keeps me wanting to finish reading it because I love the way your character think.
This is a great story to read for fans of fantasy and romance. The author did a great job getting into the mind of a high school student and there was always enough action to keep me interested all throughout it. The whole fantasy side to it, with the existence of the secret Hleo society and what they’re about, is completely original, so if you’re looking for something new, read this.
From the moment I started ‘Hleo’ I wanted to keep reading, I was hooked instantly & had lots of questions – that were all answered in the course of the story. The construct of Hleo is brilliant, I loved the strong plot, thrilling action, strong characterisations and gripping writing style. The characters are all likeable. I cared about them all and the constant threats to Hannah’s safety made for a nerve-wracking read! Its perfectly set up for a sequel and I really hope one is on the way because I’d like to read it!
An exciting plot and smoothly written passages, the book is held together by dialogues that are racy and full of life. There is a certain speed to the prose, which makes the reading effortless. A certain depth of description sits well with the plot, however, sometimes, digressions get in the way of storytelling.
It is a compelling story with believable characters. The characters stand out from the page and make you become involved with them. The pacing is good. It has areas of grey that makes the reader want to explore further as to why these characters behave the way they do.
This book deserves more than 5 stars. Its a perfect YA in every way. I just couldn’t put it down. Hleo captivated me in a way that very few books have. I love Hannah and Ethan. I cannot wait to read the other books in the series.
I loved this book!! I couldn’t put it down and can’t wait to see what happens next! It contains action, romance and twists that keep you guessing! I would 100% recommending reading it!
I didn’t know what to expect as I began reading Hleo. I was put off early on by a few glitches in wording but the story began to pull me in regardless.. With each chapter the glitches became less and less and the pull inward stronger. The plot unfolded with ease and by the last ten chapters I found my self pressing on with more urgency to find out how it would unfold.. What I found as the work ended was satisfaction and longing. My suspicions about some of the characters were proven true but the way they were revealed only increased my desire to see how it would unfold. Those things were satisfying. The longing came in the questions that were purposely left unanswered. I want to read more, know more and understand this world better. I look forward to experiencing the further development of this Hleo series.
This was overall a wonderful novel! I fell in love with it. I love the characters and plot. It’s simple to understand, and very creative in how it’s played out. There are hits to a sequel, and I want one! The writing style is great! I loved seeing things in Hannah’s perspective, and it does cause some mystery in how Ethan feels. For me personally, I could predict some things that would happen, but it was still very clever how it was done in the end. The only, nitpicking, thing I would say is that it did seem fairly slow on some things. At least for me, but it worked well for this story. I would definitely reread this novel, and read any sequels to come out, if any come. Great job! Thanks for the fun adventure!
Hleo was a great and compelling read for those who like YA fiction/sci-fi, like myself. The reader is taken on a journey, along with the main character Hannah, and as the story unfolds is hit with surprises along the way. As revelations were being presented, more questions into the secrets of the Hleo world would arise making the plot line exhilarating and hard to put the book down! Connections and loose ends from instances that seemed irrelevant in the early parts of the book were tied up in the end, which was very satisfying, while at the same time leaving enough mystery to draw you to pick up the next book in the series. Can’t wait to read book #2
The fact I read the entire book in 24 hours says it all. Not my normal genre but the style was very gripping nonetheless. There seems to be a lot of criticism about the use of the first person. However, I for one, really like this. While it may be an unconventional choice, I think it makes the story feel more real. The plot is generally very good and Rebecca Weller makes it very gripping, which was essential given this isn’t really my normal sort of genre. My only small criticism would be that the story does start very slowly and in truth, parts of the first half of the novel don’t seem to really need to be there or elements of excitement need to be added in. That said, the second half is marvellous, a little tweaking of the first half and the story would get five stars all the way through. The book has a lot of potential without doubt and it was a pleasure to read.
